After being drafted in the 3rd round of the 1983 NHL draft, signed a 4-year, two-way, contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. With Year 1 starting the season in which he plays 11 pro games, he was to earn $C 70,000; $C 80,000, $C90,000 and $C 90,000 in the 4th option year when in the NHL. His salary in any other professional league was set to $C 25,000. The contract included a signing bonus of $C 20,000 and the following bonuses: $C 10,000 for winning the Vezina or Jennings Trophy and $C 10,000 for each tranche of 40 NHL games played during the contract, up to 160.
