In January 1972, was rumored to have received three-year contract offers for $200,000 overall from the Miami Screaming Eagles and Minnesota Fighting Saints, of the new World Hockey Association set to start operations in 1972-73. Ended up never playing in the WHA and pursuing his career in the NHL.
