The 2019–20 NHL season was unlike any other due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The season was paused in March and resumed in August within "bubbles" in Edmonton and Toronto. The Tampa Bay Lightning redeemed their previous failure by defeating the Dallas Stars to win the Cup. Victor Hedman won the Conn Smythe, while Leon Draisaitl became the first German player to win the Hart and Art Ross trophies. Despite the lack of fans, the playoffs were highly competitive, underscoring the league’s players' and staff's resilience.
